Biotech
APAvadis is developing products for innovative diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.
Such modular systems will be assembled from 3 molecules with the following characteristics:
-
AN ADDRESSER: a short peptide, with binding selectivity for the following targets:
- Aminopeptidase A, a human transmembrane molecule over-expressed in angiogenic blood vessels and functionallyinvolved in tumor angiogenesis;
- Epithelial/endothelial cells in human liver metastases secondary to colorectal cancers;
-
A CARRIER: a biocompatible nanocarrier for the controlled delivery of the active molecules, one of the following depending on the application:
- PEG-liposomes for the veiculation of chemotherapeutic agents;
- Filamentous phages or silica core-shell nanoparticles for nanoshuttle veiculation of diagnostic agents.
-
AN ACTIVE MOLECULE, one of the following categories:
A THERAPEUTIC AGENT:- Prototype chemotherapeutics for system validation;
- Disease-specific chemotherapeutics for target applications;
A DIAGNOSTIC AGENT:- New generation fluorophores emitting in the red/infrared spectral region;
- Gold and silica nanoparticles for fluorescence enhancement and direct Raman spectroscopy detection.
